Below are brief sections about each available species in The Dragon Realms that players can use.

Playable species are divided into "kingdoms" that encompass each species. Species in the same kingdom can always hybridize within that kingdom and despite similarities with other species, they cannot hybridize outside their kingdom. Example: A hellhound cannot mix with a dragon even though hellhounds share many traits with dragons, as hellhounds are part of the Canidae kingdom and Dragons are part of Draconis. This is a sort of classification system to keep things relatively organized and easy to remember.
